This year was my first visit to Rhubarb Rhubarb, the UK's International Festival of the Image, now I think in its ninth year. For the first time its centre was Curzon Street Station, a fine Victorian railway station close to the centre of Birmingham. Rhubarb is based around reviews of photographer's portfolios, although there are exhibitions and other events

I hadn't gone with the intention of photographing the event, but of course I had my camera with me, so I took some pictures when the moment moved me. What you see is very much a personal viewpoint. If you are a photographer, you may well recognise some of the people in these pictures. The reviwers came from galleries, museums, magazines, publishers and other organisations in Europe, North America and a few from further afield. I've only name a few in the captions, mainly those involved in the organisation of the event.

You can read more about Rhubarb in the posts which are appearing on my >Re:PHOTO blog, where over the next few weeks I will also write about some of the many photographers I met at the event.
