Though referred to as the Angerstein line, the railway became an extensive network serving a number of industries in the area, including the East Greenwich gas works, the South Metropolitan Gasworks, the steel fabrication plants of Redpath Dorman Long and the Greenwich Metal Works, United Glass Bottle Manufacturers, the LCC's tram repair depot and others over the years.

According to Wikipedia, in 1969 the A-A Oil, Shell-Mex and BP, C A Harveys, Christies (a timber importer), Renwick Wilton's, the London Transport Executive and the South Eastern Gas Board all had sidings and probably privately owned diesel shunters like the one in this picture.
