Reclaim the Streets sees the street as an essential aspect of daily lives, and one that we must reclaim
for our own uses if we want to improve the quality of our lives. The activities it catalyses encourage people
to take part in direct action to contest the power currently embedded in our political system
by the alliance of powerful business and political party interests. It encourages activities that actively build a sense of social solidarity such as street parties.
